LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE ACTIVITIES
1. LANDSCAPE DESIGN: This is the process of arranging open spaces aesthetically, functionally, ecologically, and sustainably. When designing a landscape, it's necessary to consider both structural and plant landscaping. Structural landscaping elements include walkways, walls, and furnishing elements, forming the foundation of landscape design. Plant elements include trees, shrubs, flowers, and ground cover plants like grass. Color, form, line, scale, and texture must be considered when designing a landscape.
2. LANDSCAPE IMPLEMENTATION: The implementation service is as follows:
First, our expert team visits the area to be designed for a site survey
Necessary measurements are taken, and photographs are captured. Our architect will share their views with you while also noting your feedback.
Then, concept ideas are created and transformed into a concept landscape project.
Necessary changes and corrections are made to the concept project to create a preliminary project that is closer to the final project.
Presentations are created using Autocad, Photoshop, and 3DS Max based on the preliminary project.
Then, the final landscape project, plant landscape project, structural landscape project, sections, and details are created in sequence.
Irrigation and lighting projects are drawn up.
Application checks are carried out within the specified time and delivered to the client.
3. LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE: Landscape maintenance is necessary for your plants to maintain their form and live healthily. These maintenance works are necessary for maintaining the continuity of the area and its livability. Landscape maintenance works include:
Fertilization: During vegetation periods, at least twice a year, applications are made in green areas with rainfall. The most suitable fertilization times are; early autumn (September), early winter (early November), early spring (March-April), and late spring (May). Fertilization should be done in the morning or late afternoon when the soil temperature is lowest. Fertilizer application should not be done on wet grass.
Pruning: These are operations applied to living above-ground parts of the plant, such as cutting, bending, and removing buds and leaves. All these processes aim to establish a physiological balance between yield and growth in plants and to maintain this balance for as long as possible.
Pruning according to its purpose:
Maintenance Pruning
Shaping Pruning
Pruning aimed at increasing fruit and flower yield and quality
Pruning done for safety purposes.
Pruning according to its method:
Revitalization
Thinning (Removal)
Balancing
Shoot thinning
Shoot shortening
Shoot tip removal pruning.
Generally speaking, pruning dry branches can be done at any time of year, while green pruning, which refers to pruning living branches, should generally be done outside the vegetation (growth) period, in autumn or winter, depending on the plant species.
Lawn Care: Includes watering, mowing, fertilizing, spraying, overseeding, aeration, sanding, and rolling.
1. Watering: Lawn areas should be kept regularly moist to a depth of 10-15 cm. Watering systems should be planned for the area to be watered, and the capacity of the water source should be adjusted.
Points to consider when watering:
Watering should be done during the cool and windless hours of the day.
Watering should not be done during the hours when the sun's rays are strongest (10:00-14:00).
Night watering should absolutely be avoided.
If the water is salty and/or calcareous, the salt and/or lime content in the water should be diluted.
If possible, water-retaining materials (pumice, zeolite, leonardite, etc.) should be mixed into the soil.
The amount of water given should not exceed what the soil can retain.
Water should be applied to the lawn using various types of sprinklers.
2. Mowing: This is the process that should be done throughout the plant's vegetation period to ensure regular growth and to obtain a fine and dense turf surface. When the plant reaches 6-10 cm in height, it should be mowed to a depth of 2-4 cm, depending on the grass type. However, in special-purpose lawns such as golf courses, mowing can be done to a depth of 0.63 cm depending on the characteristics of the species used. Mowing below the tolerance limits, depending on the plant's characteristics, reduces the surface area of the leaves, which is the above-ground part of the plant, and consequently weakens the roots.
3. Fertilization: Since lawns are constantly mowed and watered, they require more nutrients than other plants. There is a very close relationship between soil structure, climate conditions, mowing frequency and height, and the timing and frequency of fertilization. Unlike other ornamental plants, grass requires more N (Nitrogen). Nitrogen fertilization, which has a vegetative growth-accelerating effect, should be done more than P (Phosphorus) and K (Potassium) fertilization because it affects leaf formation. The annual nitrogen requirement for a lawn is 15-35 g/m². These amounts vary depending on the characteristics and intended use of the area. For grass plants to grow and develop healthily by absorbing nutrients, these nutrients must be present in the soil.
